Ancestral Quest Training

By Gaylon Findlay

One of the products affiliated with and certified by the Church is Ancestral Quest by Incline Software.  On Thursday, November 19 at 7:00 pm, the consultants and interested members in the Lindon FHC area have a unique opportunity.  Gaylon Findlay, the president of Incline Software, will be presenting a seminar open to all personnel involved in the Family History Program and any others who are interested.  Brother Findlay has been developing Ancestral Quest (AQ) for the last 16 years. In 1999, he gave a copy of the AQ code to the LDS Church, who then made a few adjustments and changed the name to PAF.  Thus Brother Findlay became the primary author of PAF 4 and PAF 5. For the last 3 years, he has worked closely with FamilySearch to provide the synchronization capabilities which connect PAF data to nFS and handle reserving of ordinances and printing of FORs.

The workshop he will present, Connecting PAF 5 Data to New FamilySearch and Reserving Ordinances for PAF records Using Ancestral Quest, the Program upon which PAF was Built, will introduce us to the wonderful new resource available to us.  Come learn how to synchronize records in a PAF 5 or AQ file with the records in new.FamilySearch.org (nFS). Learn to quickly match groups of records, individuals and families, and to analyze and synchronize details of individuals and families. Learn how to quickly combine duplicate records in nFS using the tools in this FamilySearch Certified PAF Add-in. Keep track of which records have been synced and which have not. Learn to import entire family lines, along with the LDS Ordinances, directly from nFS into a PAF or AQ file. And learn to reserve ordinances, print FORs, and track ordinance cards for PAF or AQ files.
